The Fayetteville Police Department has had a long tradition of community policing. Even before the term “community policing” was coined, we were pioneers in establishing a strong community watch program. In keeping with this tradition, we have ventured into the online community with the City Watch program. It entails the compilation of email addresses of interested citizens who will receive notification of law enforcement related information. Some examples of the types of information that will be sent out are: Amber Alerts, most wanted suspects information, emerging crime trends, serial crime information, and homeland security information.
We believe that a strong relationship with our community with open communication is our strongest tool in solving and preventing crime. City Watch serves to keep citizens informed so they might be the extra eyes of the department.
