How do I get a background check/fingerprints on myself for employment purposes?

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office conducts background checks and fingerprinting to the public. Contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500 for more information.

When do I call 911?

If you are having an emergency that requires immediate police and/or fire response. You can also call 911 if you need an officer to respond to your location to take a police and/or accident report.

How and when do I report suspicious activity?

Report any activity that seems out of the ordinary and help stop a crime before it is committed.  Call 911 for immediate police response. TOP

Can a police report be taken over the telephone?

Yes, in some cases where a police officer's response is not needed, the Teleserve Unit can take a report over the phone by calling (910) 433-1529/1530.

By contacting the Crime Prevention Specialists at (910) 433-1033/1034.  TOP

How do I get a concealed weapons permit?

The police department does not issue concealed weapons permits. You can contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) at (910) 323-1500 to apply for this type of permit.

Can I get fingerprinted for employment purposes at the police department?

Contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500 for assistance.

How do I file a complaint or compliment on an employee of the police department?

Contact the Internal Affairs Unit at (910) 433-1820 during normal business hours or an on duty supervisor after hours. Complaints/Compliments can also be submitted via the website. Click on the link below to review the Department's complaint procedure.

How do I find out that status of my case?

You may contact the officer that took the initial report and speak with him or her directly at (910) 433-1830 for the Campbellton and Central Districts or (910) 433-1885 for the Cross Creek District.

If your case has been assigned to an investigator for further follow-up, you may contact the Investigative Division at (910) 433-1856 and speak with the investigator assigned to your case. If your case involves a juvenile (anyone under 16 years of age), you should contact Youth Services at (910) 433-1851.

How do I get a copy of a Police Incident or Accident Report?

You may get a copy of a report at the Police Administration Building located at 467 Hay Street from the Central Records Unit.  Incident Reports are also available for download from our website. There is no charge for a copy.  Accidents reports are not currently avaiable online, but can be obtained by contacting the Central Records Unit located in the Main Administration Building at 467 Hay Street. The more information you have, to include the report number, the more readily your report can be located. Digital copies of accident reports are also available for purchase from Carfax by visiting their website at http://www.crashdocs.org/

Contact the Community Affairs Office at 433-1033 and ask for a Programs Book and other department publications that are available upon request.

How can I obtain annual statistical information based upon records of internal affairs investigations?

Contact the Internal Affairs Unit at (910) 433-1820 during normal business hours for a copy of the IAU annual report containing statistical summary information. You may also download and print a copy of the report.

How can I pay my North Carolina traffic citation online?

If you plan not to contest this citation, then please note that in addition to the payment methods outlined on your citation, YOU MAY PAY AND DISPOSE OF THIS CITATION ONLINE AT www.payNCticket.org.
