Shooting on Ponderosa Drive

At approximately 1153 hours this afternoon Fayetteville Police were called to a residence at the 5100 block of Ponderosa Drive in regards to a shooting.

 

Upon arrival to the scene, officers located a victim in a nearby neighbor’s backyard.  The victim was identified as 41-year old Kevin Pirtle of 5124 Ponderosa Drive.  Pirtle had been shot as a result of answering a knock at his door to which he was confronted by a male subject who was pointing a handgun at him.  A struggle ensued with the subject to relieve him of his weapon, at which time Pirtle was shot twice.  The subject immediately fled the scene. 

 

Pirtle was able to make contact with a neighbor who called 911 on his behalf.  As of this release, Pirtle was listed in good condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

 

At this time Fayetteville Police are looking for a black male suspect, possibly in his 20’s approximately 6’0” tall, with a slender build and dreadlocks.  The subject was wearing a black or dark colored zip-up, hoodie style jacket with blue jeans.
