UPDATE: Train Accident on Whitfield Street

At 0122 hours on Saturday, October 24th, an Amtrak train carrying 195 passengers struck an abandoned vehicle that had become stuck on railroad tracks that were closed for repairs at Whitfield Street, near Camden Road.   

 

The preliminary investigation has revealed the vehicle, a 2000 Mercury Sable as being owned by 37-year old Devlin Lamont Washington of 505 Nottingham Drive in Fayetteville. It is unknown at this time whether Mr. Washington was the occupant of the vehicle at the time that it became stuck on the railroad tracks.

 

There is no further information to be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
