Halloween Safety Tips
Halloween Safety 

Halloween is Saturday, October 31st. The recommended hours for trick-or-treating this year are from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

 

The Fayetteville Police Department would like to offer a few safety reminders for your little ghouls and goblins this Halloween. 

 Tips for Motorists

§         Watch for children darting out from between parked cars

§         Watch for children walking on roadways, median and curbs

§         Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully

§         At twilight or later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing

  Tips for Parents

§         Make sure costumes are flame retardant

§         Make sure costumes fit properly and allow for freedom of movement

§         If possible, use make-up instead of a mask.  Masks can obstruct a child’s vision

§         Make sure children under 12, are accompanied by an adult or older responsible teen§         Check candy before children eat it

§         Plan and discuss the route that trick-or-treaters intend to follow

§         Be sure to blow out candles if being left unattended

§         Take advantage of Halloween activities sponsored by your neighborhood, church, or social organization

 Tips for Children

§          Carry a flashlight with you

§          Stay with your group while trick-or-treating

§          Only visit familiar houses, or houses that are well-lit

§          Look both ways before crossing the street

§          Never eat any candy before having a parent examine it§          Never enter the house or car of a stranger§          Never run across the street, look both ways before crossing§          Stay on streets that are well-lit and only cross at the street corners 

Remember to call 911, if you notice any suspicious activity.
