Thieves Leave Mark on Victims Home
On 10/27/2010 at about 10am, police responded to the 5200 block of Madonna Drive in reference to a break-in where numerous items including expensive electronics, clothes and food were taken. Concerned citizens called police after witnessing two men leaving the home with large bags full of items. As a result, two men were apprehended with stolen goods taken from the home.                          During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects left handwritten notes and carved messages into the victim’s walls thanking the victims for the stolen items and that “we love the stuff we got”. Almost $5000 worth of stolen items were recovered as a result of the arrests.  Dajuan Marquis Avant, 19, listed as homeless and Darrell L. Sturdivant Jr., 19, 0f 1148 Sleepy Hollow Drive have both been charged with Breaking and Entering, Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Possession of Stolen Goods, Felony Conspiracy and Injury to Real Property. Bail for both men was set at $2500 and Sturdivant has already been released. Investigators are looking into the possibility of whether Avant and Sturdivant are responsible for similar break-ins in the area.  Police Chief Tom Bergamine applauded the citizens who stepped up and called police after witnessing suspicious activity. “Because these neighbors took the time to watch what’s going on in their area,” Chief Bergamine said, “We were able to come in and recover the property and capture the two suspects responsible for the crime.”
