Over approximately the past month, the Fayetteville Police Department has investigated several Burglary / Assault type cases occurring within the City limits.  As of 1/11/10, The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and The Hope Mills Police Department have each reported one similar incident. In each case: 

·        the incident took place in an apartment complex

·        the suspect was a black male (5’9” or above - thin / average build)

·        the incident took place between 10 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.

·        the victims were women, who were home alone 

We would like to ensure the public that the Fayetteville Police Department is utilizing every available resource within our Department to identify the person(s) responsible for these crimes.  Additionally, we are working closely with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Hope Mills Police Department and other local agencies.             As always, we would like to remind citizens to: 

·        contact the Police Department (Detective J. Rodriguez at 433-1856) if you have any suspect information or case information

·        call 911 if you notice any suspicious activity

·        make sure all doors and windows are locked

·        set residential alarms

·        let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return

·        keep your cell phone nearby in the event an emergency arises
