The Fayetteville Police Department is partnering with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers to host the First Annual Sandhills Tree of Life. A tree lighting ceremony will commence in front of the Fayetteville Police Department building on 12/3/2010 at 5:30pm outside the Fayetteville Police Department.
The tree will be placed at the Fayetteville Police Department building and will remain lit through the holidays in an effort to heighten awareness of alcohol involved and other traffic-related crashes. White lights symbolize traffic related fatalities and red lights symbolize victims of alcohol involved accidents.
Memory cards will also be placed on the tree to honor family members, friends and loved ones that have lost their lives or have been seriously injured in a traffic accident or alcohol involved accident.
The event is open to the public and the Fayetteville Police Department encourages media wishing to capture the inaugural lighting to attend. For more information about the event or how the public can help, please call Amber House at 257-7605.
