Vehicle Crashes after Evading

On January 30, 2009, at 12:10 p.m., officers were patrolling the residential area of Bonnie Doone in reference to an increase in property crimes. During their patrol of the area, officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle in the patrol area, at which time the vehicle began to elude patrol officers and drive in a careless and reckless manner.

A vehicle pursuit was initiated by the patrol officer which concluded when the vehicle crashed into the Hardees restaurant, 3405 Murchison Rd. The driver, William D. Hill, Black Male, 04/27/1959, fled from the vehicle on foot and was apprehended by patrol officers a short distance from the vehicle. William Hill was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with unknown injuries. No injuries were reported by the patrons inside the Hardees restaurant.

The incident is currently under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
