At 1338 hours this afternoon, Fayetteville Police responded to a residence located at 1001-B Elm Street in response to a shooting call.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a male victim, identity temporarily being withheld, with a gunshot wound to his upper leg. The victim advised that an unknown subject had entered his residence and attempted to rob him before shooting him.
Information obtained during the preliminary investigation has revealed that there was no sign of forced entry into the residence; furthermore, officers are still trying to verify the witness accounts.
The incident remains under investigation; there is no cause for public concern at this time.
