On Monday, April 08, 2013 at approximately 8:20 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian having been struck on the 600 block of Walker Street in the Tiffany Pines subdivision. Once officers arrived on scene, the investigation revealed that the driver of a 2003 Mazda 6 swerved to avoid colliding with a motorcycle traveling in the same direction on Walker Street. When the driver swerved to avoid the collision, the vehicle struck a pedestrian walking on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle would continue to the left of the roadway and collided with a residence located at 667 Walker Street. The residence sustained structural damage and was considered uninhabitable by emergency personnel at the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Neither the driver of the 2003 Mazda 6 nor the occupants of 667 Walker Street were injured. At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver of the motor vehicle.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
