Copper Theft Arrests:
Shortly before midnight on May 16, Fayetteville Police Officers responded to an alarm at the Progress Energy/PWC site in the 2800 block of Cumberland Road. While in the area, officers located two suspects and evidence collected at the scene connected the two suspects to Monday night's copper theft. This was the fourth time that copper and other metals had been stolen from the Progress Energy/PWC site this year.
Officers arrested Calem Madden (24) and Paul Jones (25) in connection with stealing copper from the site.
Calem Madden was charged with Larceny, Possession of Stolen Goods, and 1st Degree Trespassing. He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $5000 secured bond.
Paul Jones has been charged with Larceny, Possession of Stolen Goods, and 1st Degree Trespassing. He is being held on a $5000 secured bond.
Both Madden and Jones are repeat offenders with a history of larceny related crimes. As of May 17, 2011; Calem Madden has 34 court cases pending in court and Paul Jones has 9.
