Officer Injured during Traffic Stop
A Fayetteville Police Officer was injured Monday morning, May 23, after making a traffic stop on Adams Street. Around 9:00 a.m. in the morning, Officer E. Ketchum conducted a traffic stop on a Gold Ford Taurus driven by Felicia Danielle Bohannon (26) for not wearing a seat belt. When asked by the officer, Bohannon provided a fictitious name. While Officer Ketchum was talking with the driver, Bohannon drove away and in the process ran over Officer Ketchum's foot.
A short distance away, Bohannon lost control of her vehicle and struck a PWC Utility Truck while trying to make a right turn at a high rate of speed onto Eastern Boulevard from Grove Street. The driver of the PWC truck was pinned in the vehicle and needed to be removed from the vehicle by emergency crews. It does not appear the driver of the PWC truck sustained serious injuries.
After striking the PWC vehicle, Bohannon then left her vehicle through a window and started to run away on foot. Officer Ketchum, along with the assistance of another police officer, apprehended Felicia Bohannon after a short foot pursuit.
Officer Ketchum was been taken to a local medical center to evaluate his injuries. We do not have an update at this time on the extent of the officer's injuries.
Felicia Danielle Bohannon has been charged with the following:
- Resisting/Delay/Obstructing a Police Officer
- Assault With a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official
- Driving While Licensed Revoked
- Felony Hit and Run
- Providing False Information to Law Enforcement Officer
