Barricaded Subject

The Fayetteville Police Department is currently on the scene of a barricaded subject believed to be in her residence located on Brookcrossing Drive in the Village of Lakewood Subdivision.

At 1438 hours this afternoon, police received a call regarding a pregnant female threatening to commit bodily harm to her person.  Upon arriving on scene, officers immediately attempted to make contact with the occupant said to be in the home.

After repeated failed communication attempts, additional members of the Police Department as well as the Emergency Response Team were dispatched to the scene.  A perimeter was established outside of the residence to include evacuation of nearby homes.

At this time, members of the Cumberland County Bomb Squad and Crisis Negotiators are on the scene assisting the ERT team with communication efforts.  It has not been determined if there are any occupants in the residence, how many, or what their status is.

Currently, Lakeway Drive is blocked at the bridge just down from the Gates Four entrance.  Lakeway Drive coming from Fisher Road is only accessible up to the Birch Creek residential areas.  Motorists traveling to residential neighborhoods at Gates Four and beyond must use Rockfish road to reach their destination.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
