Break Comes in Catalytic Converter Cases

After warning citizens last month of a spike in catalytic converter thefts at fenced-in businesses primarily along Raeford and Yadkin Roads, the Fayetteville Police Department have arrested two men as they were committing such a crime.

On 8/3/2010 at 12:05am, the suspects were leaving All Pro Exhaust located at 734 North Reilly Road. Witnesses reported the suspect vehicle, a 1992 Blue Ford Ranger, had left the business after placing several items in the truck. The items were ten feet away from a sign at the business indicating that thieves will be prosecuted.

Police arrested brothers Billy Lee, 40 and Fabian Lee, 45, both of 258 Buckhead Road and both of whom are repeat offenders with numerous theft-related charges, with Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property.

Among the items recovered by police were two catalytic converters, a radiator and exhaust pipes. The catalytic converters have a listed value of $300 each.
