Checks Sought in Check Fraud Scam
Fayetteville Police are investigating a check fraud scam. The suspect, Willie James Rhodes, 42, of 166 Buckingham Avenue ordered 300 checks using a fake account number.  Several businesses within the area have reported checks with the name “James Rhodes” or “James Construction” were returning because the account number contained was non-existent or “Could not be located”.              Police have seized over 150 checks from Rhodes, but several are still unaccounted for. Anyone who has received a check from this person or business, please contact Detective Chris Cody of the Fayetteville Police Department.  Rhodes is a repeat offender with a history of theft. Checks with the name of James Rhodes/James Construction from check number 420-720 are being sought in connection with the scam.
