The Fayetteville Police Department made arrests in two separate motor vehicle break-ins early this morning. The arrests occurred after police received calls of in-progress motor vehicle break-ins in apartment complexes.
The first call came in at 0043 hrs from 5 Briar Circle. A witness saw the two suspects inside a neighbor’s motor vehicle and called 911. The witness was able to give a description of the suspects and the vehicle the suspects were driving. Officers responding to the scene spotted the suspect vehicle and stopped it. The two suspects were taken into custody. The investigation revealed that the suspects, Frederick Gregory McGougan (206 Oakland Drive, 20 years old) and Joseph Brian Evans (1105 Hillsboro Street, 21 years old), entered the victim’s unsecured motor vehicle and stole $2.15 of change from inside. The suspects gained entry to at least two other unsecured vehicles in the area but nothing was taken. The suspects were charged with B/E of Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods, and Felony Conspiracy. The suspects were given a $6000 bond. Suspect McGougan already had a pending motor vehicle break-in charge for which he had been released from jail on $2500 bail.
Photographs of the suspects are attached to this release.
