Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Fraud Unit would like to warn citizens about a subject committing fraudulent activities within the military community.
43-year old Nathaniel Lee Walker, of 1913 Ashridge Drive Walker has been scamming victims out of thousands of dollars since October 2008. Walker’s most common method of operation is to advise his victim that he has an investment opportunity for them, usually in the real estate market. Convinced of a quick return on their investment, the victim writes him a check to which he immediately cashes. Once pressed for the return on their investment, Walker writes the victim a fraudulent check.
Walker, being a retired Warrant Officer with the U.S. Army, has regular access to soldiers on Ft. Bragg. As such, all of his victims to date have been active military or in some way associated with the military, and have been known by him. In addition, Walker owns and operates Education Consulting Advisors on Cliffdale Road, and he was also a previously licensed real estate agent operating under Rosewood Real Estate Company.
Wanted on four arrest warrants for felony worthless checks, Walker arrived at the Fayetteville Police Department on September 15th to turn himself into detectives. At such time, Walker was taken into custody and processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he walked away the same evening on an unsecured bond.
Since September 15th, three additional warrants for arrest have been issued and additional cases are pending at this time.
Walker is currently on the bank alert list and has most recently written checks on a Navy Federal Credit Union bank account. A recent photograph is attached to this release.
Anyone having any information on Nathaniel Lee Walker, or to report financial fraud, is urged to call Detective Jennifer Kelly at (910) 433-1856.
