The Fayetteville Police Department is proud to announce the Celebrate Safe Communities event to be held in collaboration with the Operation Ceasefire Movie night this Friday, October 2, 2009.
Celebrate Safe Communities is a National Crime Prevention initiative held during the month of October, which is Crime Prevention month. The purpose of the initiative is to engage communities and encourage their partnering with law enforcement to foster safer neighborhoods. The event will provide an opportunity for citizens to get to know their police department and learn more about how they can become involved in all forms of Community Watch Groups, whether residential, business, or church related. Other opportunities include the Citizen’s on Patrol program as well as the Citizen’s Police Academy. All sponsored by the Fayetteville Police Department.
The event will take place from 5:00 through 7:00 p.m. at J.S. Spivey Recreation Center located at 500 Fisher Street. A demonstration by the police Magician as well as the K-9 unit will be given. Members of the Fayetteville Police Department’s Crime Prevention Team, Emergency Response Team, and Citizen’s on Patrol Unit’s will be on-site to answer questions. Information on Operation ID will be provided to all participants.
