World Renowned Homicide Expert Teaching in Fayetteville

The Fayetteville Police Department welcomes world-renowned homicide expert Vernon Geberth to the city for a 3-day seminar. Practical Homicide Investigation is designed for law enforcement officers and will be held at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux from Monday, September 13th through Wednesday, September 15th.

Geberth is a retired Lieutenant-Commander of the New York City Police Department with more than 40-years of law enforcement experience. He retired as the Commanding Officer of the Bronx Homicide Task Force, which handled over 400 murder investigations a year. During his career he was a Detective, a Precinct Detective Squad Commander, Temporary Commander of the 7th Homicide Zone in the South Bronx and Commander of Bronx Homicide. He has personally investigated, supervised, assessed and consulted on over eight thousand death investigations.

When major homicide cases turn up in the media, one of the media's primary contacts is Vernon J. Geberth, M.S. M.P.A.  He can speak knowledgeably about cases like BTK, Jeffrey Dahmer, David Parker Ray, Jack Own Spillman III and John Robinson because he's often been invited into the case by the investigating detectives.  They've been to his course, used his protocol, and trusted his judgment.  Thus, he's become a hub for homicide consulting.

The Fayetteville Police Department, which boasts a 100% solve rate in its 2009 homicides, is sponsoring the seminar and more than 80-detectives from across the United States will be in attendance.

The media is invited to interview Mr. Geberth at the Orleans room upstairs at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux from 1pm to 1:15pm on Monday, September 13th and will also be allowed to shoot B-roll of the class in session immediately afterward, with the caveat that specific materials in the presentation not be photographed. For more information or questions about the event, please contact Amber House at 910-257-7605.
