Fayetteville Police Department’s Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy
The Fayetteville Police Department is one of the few law enforcement agencies in North Carolina that sponsors and staffs their own training academy. Experienced FPD staff will train new recruits at our training facility located at 671 N. Eastern Boulevard.
New recruits report to the facility Monday-Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During their time in the Academy trainees are compensated with salary, benefits and are provided uniforms.
Inexperienced trainees undergo 25 weeks of intensive Basic Law Enforcement Academy training and an Intensive Physical Fitness Program. This training is followed by an 11-week period of field training. The new officer is assigned to work with a Field Training Officer on the job training and evaluation.
Current officers also use this facility for quarterly in-service training. It houses a gym area, classrooms, offices, firing range, rappelling tower and many other training areas.
